Designed with a focus on both structural efficiency and architectural expression, one of Portland Commons’ signature element is its six-storey struts that rhythmically animate the exterior space. Essential for supporting a 13-metre overhang, increasing natural light and allowing for larger floor plates on the upper floors, these struts also improve the connectivity between Front Street, Portland Commons, Victoria Memorial Square, and the King West community.
Installation began in the tight east elevation of the Mews courtyard with 7 struts and finished at the North courtyard elevation with an additional 4 struts.
